Prescribe creativity
Rx for Creativity helps organizations and individuals harness the healing power of creativity to enhance holistic health & wellbeing.
Co-create with us
Rx for Creativity works with organizations to establish “arts on prescription” programs for various populations across many settings.
Arts on Prescription
“Arts on Prescription” (AKA: Arts Prescribing) is a way to boost your mental health and wellbeing through creativity. Complimentary to other traditional treatments, a doctor, therapist, or community worker can connect you with free or low-cost creative activities—like painting, music, dance, writing, photography, etc.
It’s all about helping you to express yourself, do something you enjoy, feel less stressed, meet new people, and feel more connected. No art skills or previous experience are needed—just a chance to do something fun and meaningful that can actually help you feel better.
At Rx for Creativity, we connect organizations with Arts & Wellness Community Network, which includes Arts & Wellness Coaches and Community Arts & Health Workers who can provide health coaching and help individuals figure out the best activities for them.
An arts prescription “dose” typically lasts 3–6 months, but we can work together to customize the program to the needs of your organization and the population you serve.
For more information on how to collaborate with Rx for Creativity, and receive your arts prescription, contact us.
Trauma-informed arts
Artists, arts educators and administrators working in community settings regularly encounter people who have been affected by trauma. Training in Trauma Informed Arts Methods ensures that arts and culture providers have a comprehensive understanding of neurobiology, behavioral health, education and the arts. This training provides arts educators with creative approaches, relevant and specific to their artistic discipline, for engaging clients and leading them to whole health through the power of the arts. It will also support cultural partners in identifying people who are potentially trauma-impacted, or struggling with anxiety, post-traumatic stress syndrome, depression, suicidal ideation or attempts, social isolation, etc. for referral to mental health or other applicable services.
We can provide many types of
creative opportunities
Meet our network
Partnering with us to create your arts on prescription program gives you access to The Arts & Wellness Network. Our network incorporates individual Artists, Arts Educators, Teaching Artists, Art Therapists, and Cultural Organizations drawn from all artistic disciplines (music, dance, theater, literary).
Cultural partners of The Arts & Wellness Community Network will be trained in Trauma Informed Art Practice, Social Emotional Learning Arts, relevant basic Public and/or Behavioral Health certifications — and receive ongoing professional development in Arts, Healthcare, and Wellness.
